Meet Mike, the Boxer who thinks he's a lap dog...don't they all??

"Please no pictures, please!"

"I don't know what all the fuss is about...I'm just a cute little teeny, tiny boxer trying to get comfy on someones lap!

Meet Mike, the Boxer! We adopted Mike from our local animal shelter on Monday afternoon. The kids have been asking, no begging for a dog. We have a dog. Her name is Dundee and she is a Blue Heeler that we got as a puppy when we lived in Arizona. Dundee stayed in Kansas with Scott's mom when we moved back home a year and a half ago. She likes it there but we miss her terribly. She is getting old though and doesn't have the patience required in a house full of little ones, so I guess it's for the best.

Anyway, we had been checking out the shelter for a couple of weeks, waiting to find a good match. We finally found one that we wanted Scott to approve of before we brought him home. So on Monday afternoon, Scott and I went to check him out. The one we were going to consider turned out to have issues.....way more issues than we cared to take on. The kids and I had seen Mike and thought he was pretty cute but he's a Boxer and if you have ever had a Boxer you know they have energy! We ended up spending a ton of time with him in the play area and found he was actually a pretty good dog. He's got a few issues (don't we all?) but ones we could live with. We were pretty sure he didn't have a brain in that cute little head but after being here for a couple of days now, we have seen that not only does he have a brain, he knows how to use it!!! This pup is smart!!!

He's a very happy dog, Boxers always are and he is a people lover. We have learned very quickly that Mike does not want to be left alone!!!! He thinks he is a lap dog. He has got to be part deer the way he springs over gates and couches. He really loves to run and play basketball, soccer, catch, etc. Thankfully he is potty trained.

I'm sure there will be more pictures of Mike in future posts. I'm still trying to get pics of the birthday kiddos on here before the next birthday comes around.........
